Management and organisation of student well-being work
The starting point and aim of student well-being work is a student who is healthy and able to study. High-quality student well-being is based on the strategic choices made in higher education, translated into documents and structures that guide the activities. These are used to organise, monitor, evaluate and develop the actual student well-being work and services. Interviews conducted by the KOHO network show that the management's systematic commitment to student well-being varies between higher education institutions. Higher education institutions recognise the importance of student well-being and take it into account in drawing up strategies. At the level of operational control, higher education institutions have various documents that support the promotion of well-being and organisational methods. The implementation level includes the most actors, and for students, it materialises as a set of services. In this respect, there is a lot of variation between higher education institutions, partly reflecting the strategic policies and operational control. The level of monitoring, evaluation and development of the activities, which varies greatly between the services and the operating models of higher education institutions, can be seen as a critical development target.
